Failure to Use the Litter Box
One of the things that pet owners like the best about cats is their independence. A dog needs to be let outside to do their business while a cat will just use their litter box inside the house whenever they need to. It can be a little more work to clean out the litter box but it is convenient not to have to worry about letting your cat outside frequently. However, when a cat fails to use their litter box, it can indicate a bigger problem that requires a trip to a Miami veterinarian clinic.
Urinary Tract Infections
Urinary tract infections are incredibly common in cats. These infections can cause your cat to lose control of his bladder to a degree. This will mean that he will not always make it to the litter box when he needs to use it. A cat that always uses his litter box suddenly urinating in other locations can be a huge red flag for a problem. When your cat does this, you should make him an appointment with a Miami veterinarian clinic to make sure he does not have a urinary tract infection.
Finding the Cause
One of the things that you should check for first if your cat is suddenly not using his litter box as he once did is any changes that have taken place. Have you changed the type of litter that you are using? Is the litter scented when it was not before? Has there been some other major change in the household such as a new pet or a new baby? All of these are emotional reasons why your pet may not be using the litter box. If none of these things have changed, a Miami veterinarian clinic can rule out any medical problems.
Cats instinctively like to do their business in a litter box. Once they are litter box trained, they should always go in their litter box unless something is causing them problems. It can be difficult to determine exactly what is making your cat urinate in places other than litter box. A Miami veterinarian clinic can help you to determine the cause behind your cat's unusual behavior.
